The Centre d’Art i Natura (CAN – Art and Nature Centre) of Farrera is a work hostel for artists and investigators from all over the world. The hamlet of Farrera which has 25 inhabitants) is located at an altitude of 1360 m, in Pallars Sobirà. It lies in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, where it enjoys the benefits of a privileged natural setting that offers the peace and quiet that are ideal for reflection, inspiration and creative work, for both individuals and groups. This is a unique destination at which to carry out fieldwork, research or study.

The residential facilities are simple but comfortable and the workshops receive very good quality natural light, as well as having running water and electricity. The centre is also a good potential venue for seminars, courses or meetings. On top of its residential services, the Centre d’Art i Natura (CAN) offers grants and exchanges, organises courses and seminars, stages exhibitions of its stock of Art, publications and original editions, and holds shows and presentations.

The CAN of Farrera is a public initiative that aims to promote the local area and to encourage creativity and research and has been operational since 1996. The CAN belongs to the local municipal authority and is managed through a non-profit making organisation; Amics del Centre d’Art i Natura de Farrera (Friends of the Art and Nature Centre of Farrera). Since it began its activity, the CAN has actively participated in the international network Res Artis (International Association of Residential Arts Centres and Networks) and is a founding member of the Network of spaces dedicated to the production of visual arts of Catalonia.
