The resort has more than 20 km of skiable terrain and 1000 metres of elevation gain. Espot is a resort nestled in a privileged location in the Pyrenees, right on the outskirts of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
Visitors are not soon to forget its location among the lush black pine forests. Both the resort and its surroundings bear the Catalan Tourist Board "Family Tourism Destination" seal of quality, which recognises major tourist attractions that are perfect for families.
Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park is one of the best-preserved protected natural areas in southern Europe. In addition to its natural and cultural attractions, the conditions there simply could not be better for star tourism. Here there are still small, tucked-away villages scattered among the mountains, such as the 10 towns located within the Park, where we can gaze at a dark night sky, full of a limitless number of stars. Regions such as this one deserve to be preserved and could be eligible for international recognition as a Starlight Tourist Destination and Starlight Reserve (UNESCO), as the inhabitants of these regions gradually decide to take action to preserve the darkness of the night sky and not to add more light pollution. In October 2018 the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park obtained this certification.
The slopes, set in lush black pine forests, are simply unforgettable. The beautiful views from mountains over 3,000 m high make the skier feel at home in the alpine wilderness. Espot is a resort renowned for the quality of its snow, guaranteed to have over 60% of the area skiable using artificial snow.
It also has three slopes approved for international competitions, which gives an idea of the slopes' level of difficulty and their suitability for expert skiers in search of thrills. The resort also has a large area for beginners at 2,000 metres and a large leisure park. This allows both children and skiing parents to enjoy a day in the snow.
A highly recommended option for intermediate skiers or snowboarders is to descend from the highest point of the resort to the foot of the slopes on the blue run.
The village of Espot, just 2 km from the resort, is a charming, typically Pyrenean rural village that combines the modernity of its hotels and shops with the tradition of its buildings. The incredible natural setting that surrounds it makes it the gateway to the National Park.
Espot, family resort for all those looking for fun in the snow coupled with the warmth of a typical alpine village.
