Opened in 1986, Port Ainé is located in the area of influence of the municipality of Rialp and Soriguera, on the Orri massif and in the splendid natural setting of the L'Alt Pirineu Natural Park, in El Pallars Sobirà in the Lleida Pyrenees.
Its privileged location below the Orri Peak (2,440m), with 95% of the slopes facing north, means it enjoys a favourable microclimate, especially in seasons with little snowfall, and an unbeatable quality of powder snow from December to April. For many the ski resort is considered to have the best snow in the Pyrenees.
Port Ainé is part of the Pyrenees–Noguera Pallaresa destination, which includes the municipalities of Baix Pallars, Soriguera, Sort, Rialp and Llavorsí, a group of 65 villages located in the emblematic valleys that converge there: Baiasca Valley, Romadriu Valley, Àssua Valley, Siarb Valley, Ancs Valley... A cradle of active tourism and adventure sports, it brings together a series of resources such as the Noguera Pallaresa River, Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, the L'Alt Pirineu Natural Park, and the ski and mountain resort of Port Ainé. There are also an array of cultural spaces ideal for family getaways and holidays that will allow you to enjoy L'Alt Pirineu any time of year. In addition to being a destination to enjoy nature and the mountains as a family, it has become a centre of excellence in whitewater canoeing (Sort), a UNESCO Global Geopark (Baix Pallars) and a Starlight Tourist Destination (Sort–Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park).
The resort has about 30 km of slopes and 800 metres of elevation gain suitable for all levels and types of skiers and snowboarders. All the slopes are surrounded by the L'Alt Pirineu Natural Park and seamlessly blend into the mountain landscape, offering marvellous views over the whole Pyrenees.
What makes the Port Ainé resort special is its clear focus on a family public and skiers and snowboarders who are just starting out in this sport. The JET–CIM 6-seater detachable chairlift, which ends at the highest point of the resort, the Orri Peak, allows skiers to enjoy the Bellavista green run, among many other delights. This simple route, a little over 3 kilometres long, goes around the entire perimeter of the resort and allows any type of skier, whatever their level, to enjoy the scenery and the resort's best ski areas.
Port Ainé is also renowned for its Snowpark, a pioneer of the Pyrenees, which for many years has been at the forefront of new freestyle trends. It has its own ski lift and several modules and lines for those skiing for the first time or looking to develop or improve their technique.
In terms of services, Port Ainé's outstanding comprehensive centre offers everything you need for a good day's skiing at 2000 metres. It is also where you will find Hotel Port Ainé 2000*** (the highest in the Pyrenees), a shop selling basic necessities, an equipment rental centre, ski schools, a sun terrace with cafeteria, a snow activities centre and a panoramic restaurant... All within reach of the ski-loving public.
In short, Port Ainé has something unforgettable in store, no matter the skier.
