Gósol, is a small settlement located in the north-west of the comarca (local district) of El Berguedà (in the Catalan Pyrenees). It stands at an altitude of 1498 metres above sea level and has 230 habitants. This friendly, welcoming village is located within the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, where it is possible to enjoy marvellous places and colours beneath the majestic presence of the Pedraforca massif. Given the great number of tourists expected this year, Gósol has prepared a Tourism Office which provides a wide range of tourist information, ranging from details about long and short walking, cycling and 4x4 routes, to information about exhibitions of all types. We invite you to visit us! What to see- Visit to the Castle: (duration 30 to 45 minutes) An ideal place from which to look out across the whole valley and take photographs. It is also possible to go up to the top of the bell tower from where it is possible to enjoy really excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
·Visit to Torrent Senta: (duration: approximately 60 minutes) From this point it is possible to see the source of the river Valls, a tributary of the Cardener. This is an excellent place in which to rest, enjoy a meal and drink the cold, refreshing, natural waters. From here it is also possible to go on to the Forats de Torrent Senta (Holes of the Senta Torrent) and the Font del Ferro (Iron Fountain). Next to the hole it is also possible to find numerous fossils. This area was visited by the famous painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso during his stay at Gósol.
·Tour of the village of Gósol: (duration: about 45 minutes) Starting from the Plaça Major (Main Square), where it is possible to admire the Dona dels Pans (the bread woman). sculpture, visitors will see the old inn where Picasso stayed, which is called Cal Tampanada. They will then go down Carrer Picasso to the Plaça del Pedrell (now known as the Pedro i Pons square, in memory of a famous medical doctor whose family was originally from Gósol), where they will find a typical tank where the women of the village used to wash the clothes. Going up Carrer Agustí Carol i Foix (the name of a former local councillor) they will see the porch of Cal Dominguet and be able to observe the typology of the streets of Gósol, with their houses and doorways, etc.- Castle Tour (duration: 25 minutes) ·Visit to the Picasso Centre in Gósol (duration: 1 hour). The permanent exhibition "Picasso, Gósol 1906" revolves around Picasso's visit in the spring of 1906 and highlights the notebook he wrote in during his stay, the photographs of early twentieth-century Gósol, the importance of Our Lady of Gósol, and the letters that Picasso wrote to Casanovas from Gósol. It also features literary works by Fernande Olivier and Gertrude Stein, who wrote about Picasso's time in Gósol and its importance in the evolution of his painting towards modernity. ·Picasso Route (duration: 1.5 hours). The Picasso Route consists of a walk through the village of Gósol, treading the same streets where Picasso walked and was inspired, while following a map and listening to an audioguide that will transport you with anecdotes about the genius and the people of the town. The Picasso Route, combined with a visit to the Picasso Centre, is a total immersion experience of the painter's stay in Gósol.
